Adam Waldron with The Swamp Strutters
October 3 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pmFree
“It’s been a long road for the gifted blues, rock and country aficionado who has been a mainstay of many a bar band during the almost two decades he’s spent applying his craft. Beginning in the 90s playing largely Chicago style blues in bars across New Zealand, sometime in the early part of last decade, Waldron began blending alternative country with blues and later took on vocal duties. He moved back to Australia and settled in Adelaide in 2006 and two years later formed the Adam Waldron Trio, a project which has led him to this point.
Waldron moved to Melbourne in 2010 and enlisted in demand musicians Josh Verco on bass and Travis Constable on drums and the hook up resulted in this four track EP. The tracks contain a nod to a variety of styles and Waldron’s love of the aforementioned genres are plain to see as all feature on the record. From the 70s AM rock sound of ‘Fork In The Road’ to the muddy blues of ‘Live The Life’ and ‘Clean Up’, there’s even a pop element present throughout the four to the floor riff heavy pumper ‘Deny My Love’ and all tracks sport savvy and cleverly inserted licks and lead breaks that could of dominated but don’t. Indeed, there’s not a second wasted on the entire EP and such minimalism and appropriateness are indications of the continued expansion and growth in his songwriting trajectory.” – indie30.com
